As part of the evolution of our job recording, we are launching a new activity recorder for standard jobs.
The new activity recorder must be used for all jobs which begin on or after 1st March 2026.
This activity recorder is the first to implement our move to recording jobs times in 5 minute intervals. This is a response to feedback we've had regarding the usability of the existing forms. Using 5 minute intervals will make the forms easier to use without significantly affecting our data reporting. All NBB activity recorders will move to 5 minute intervals.
This activity recorder introduces a new job/call category of "Supply". This won't impact most duty shifts as this category has been included to cover jobs that don't come via a shift controller and are not scheduled or relays. The best example of such a job is a GNAAS resupply which might come in during a weekday. The activity recorder also adds package types specifically for GNAAS resupply and to avoid the confusion that exists with the current form, Blood, Plasma and Platelets have been combined into a single package type. In addition the form now includes dedicated fields to complete when a collection or delivery location is not in the drop-down lists. As before, select "other location" and a dedicated field will allow you to manually enter the location. Please give as much detail as possible.
The new activity recorder also includes extra error checking and there are mechanisms to highlight potential irregularities in the data entered. Using our experience of common mistakes with the existing forms we will now highlight any data entry that looks unusual, by showing a warning on the form. If a warning is shown, the data should be checked, and corrected if necessary, or the warning can be accepted / overridden. Again, this should make the month end reconciliation much easier than it is at the moment.
This is a new activity recorder that will be completed by both Riders and Drivers as well as Shift Controllers and others who are organising jobs. Having a single form ensures that both sets of roles are asked the same questions (as far as possible) unlike the current forms where the questions can differ. Further, using a single form which will help with our reconciliation of job reports at the end of the month and it will make ongoing maintenance much easier as there is only one form to manage.
To prepare for the launch of the new form there are some some resources you should review:
