During lockdown local lass Pat Carrick faced having to grow out her long black locks with hairdressers being closed. Rather than rush to get booked in for it to be coloured she decided to brave the chop and raise money for charity in the process. As an ex-biker she had met our volunteers at an event 3 years ago and chose to support Northumbria Blood Bikes with her sponsored haircut.
Pat has not only raised an amazing £1107.00, through the donations she received, but has been helping to promote our charity and spreading the word of what we do whilst raising the funds.
Pat Carrick said: “I shed a few tears when I had my hair cut. People has said I’ve done great but all I did was get my hair cut and asked for money it’s other people who have given the money. It’s made me very emotional.”
On behalf of Northumbria Blood Bikes we would like to say a massive thank you to Pat and everyone who sponsored her chop. It’s been a difficult year for us without our volunteers being able to get out to events to fundraise and promote our charity. This donation will help us to continue our service supporting our NHS at this critical time.
