Paying our respects

Kirsty Lawrence's picture

You may have noticed and wondered why we have changed our profile picture on social media to our logo with a black band through it. This has been done as a mark of respect for a much beloved volunteer whom has sadly died. Carole Snee volunteered with Northumbria Blood Bikes for three years as a passionate fundraiser and a superb shift controller looking after our volunteers on shift and dispatching jobs. Her husband, Harry, rides, drives and fundraisers regularly for our charity also.
Carole was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in Spring 2019 and against all odds beat it. Unfortunately in June 2020 the cancer had returned and during the last weeks of her life, both she and her family, received support from Marie Curie. Due to the current circumstances, numbers are limited at her funeral, and it will be family flowers only but they have chosen two charities to support in her memory if you would like to make a donation.
All of the team, and NBB family, are sending our deepest condolences to Carole’s family and our thoughts are with them.
