Northumbria Blood Bikes were the Spirit of Rugby’s outgoing Worshipful Master’s Charity of the year.  During his year as Master he and his Freemasons Lodge based at Chester le Street masonic centre raised a magnificent amount of £1,400. This was mainly through the sale of commemorative coins as shown in the first 2 photographs but also from raffles and other fundraising events during his year.

In addition to the Lodge fundraising, John and his wife Janet (who has personally been a recipient of blood delivered to a hospital by NBB) collected “loose change” in a jar throughout the year which amounted to the incredible amount of £200.  On Friday 16th August cheques totalling £1,600 were presented to Deputy Provincial Grand Master of Durham Freemasons and NBB volunteer rider John Watts during the Lodge’s annual installation evening when John Rutherford handed over Mastership to his successor Craig Gartside who we hope will have similar fundraising success for his charity of the year, TLC Teddies.
