Why Ria joined our team

Ria joined Northumbria Blood Bikes as a volunteer following an accident in 2013 and received blood transfusions which began at the roadside with The Great North Air Ambulance Service. She found out in 2014 that it was Northumbria Blood Bikes who delivered the blood to the hospital and to the air ambulance. She decided to volunteer once she was in a more stable position. Her last blood transfusion was in 2018 when she had her leg amputated.

Ria’s reason for volunteering with our charity was featured on BBC Morning Live on Thursday 6th March.

If Ria’s story has inspired you to volunteer please visit our website https://www.northumbriabloodbikes.org.uk/support/volunteer we’re looking for fundraisers, shift controllers, riders and drivers to join our team.
