Today our volunteers have finished spreading festive cheer to the last of the Children’s Wards we visited in our Blood Bikes Santa Run 2025. Since we began this annual event it has grown year on year thanks to the generosity of those who support it. Back in 2017 we began by supporting one hospital but this year we are dropping off 126 giant Santa bags to 18 different Children’s wards, both in-patient and out-patient, at 12 different hospitals across our region.
Today our volunteers have been spreading some festive cheer to the second of the Children’s Wards we will be visiting in our Blood Bikes Santa Run 2025. Today we took part in another relay. This relay was for urgent samples that needed to be transported from Edinburgh to the RVI in Newcastle. Thanks to Blood Bikes Scotland volunteer Joe and our volunteer Ian.
On Friday we took part in a donor milk relay. It began with Serv Herts & Beds collecting the donor milk from The Hearts Milk Bank who relayed with Derbyshire Blood Bikes. They transported it up to Wetherby where they handed it over to our volunteer. It was then delivered to the Neo-Natal Unit at Sunderland Royal Hospital.
