Volunteer of the year 2022

Kirsty Lawrence's picture

Each year we ask our volunteers to nominate their Volunteer of the Year which we award at our annual AGM. This year was an extra special meeting for us as it was also a celebration of the 10 years since our charity was first founded.

We are extremely delighted to announce that our ‘Outstanding Volunteer’ for 2022 was awarded to Eamonn Toland.

Blood Bike Day 2022

Kirsty Lawrence's picture

Today we join our Blood Bike family nationwide in celebrating #BloodBikeDay.

Our volunteers deliver blood and urgent medical supplies, out of hours, across the North East of England. We rarely find out who we have helped but sometimes we are met at the door by medical teams who have been awaiting our arrival as the delivery is time critical.

A brand new, easy way to support us - introducing Nectar Donate

Kirsty Lawrence's picture

It’s now even easier to help us raise funds for Northumbria Blood Bikes. We’ve signed up to Nectar Donate, a new initiative launched this month from the team at Nectar and Crowdfunder. This means you can now donate any or all of your Nectar points to us! You will need to link your Nectar card to your Crowdfunder account. Then simply visit our dedicated https://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/p/nbb and when you get to the “Payment method” screen, select “Donate with Nectar”. The best thing about Nectar Donate is that it won’t cost you or us anything.

Retirement for Mark Master Mason

Kirsty Lawrence's picture

In 2016 we were delighted to introduce 'Mark Master Mason' a Honda Pan European to our fleet after we received a generous donation of £18,000 from the National Mark Benevolence Funds of the Masons. This donation not only purchased the bike but also kitted it out to become a blood bike and funded fuel for its first year in service. Since beginning its life of service, 7 years ago, the bike has completed over 86,000 miles and completed thousands of jobs across our region as well as representing our charity at countless events.
