Hair today and gone tomorrow

During lockdown local lass Pat Carrick faced having to grow out her long black locks with hairdressers being closed. Rather than rush to get booked in for it to be coloured she decided to brave the chop and raise money for charity in the process. As an ex-biker she had met our volunteers at an event 3 years ago and chose to support Northumbria Blood Bikes with her sponsored haircut.

Communities Can

We are extremely pleased to announce that funding from the Coronavirus Community Support Fund, distributed by the National Lottery Community Fund, has helped us to cover the running costs of our charity for the next 6 months. This is enabling us to continue our service without worrying about how we have been significantly impacted by the loss of fundraising this year.

Virtual GNR cheers

Unfortunately our bike is not leading the elite runners to the finish line of the Great North Run nor are our team of runners going to be running from Newcastle to South Shields tomorrow. Like many plans this year things have changed and instead the Great North Run launched their virtual version with an app including the iconic sounds associated with the run.

Rock the Lockdown

Well what can we say apart from absolutely incredible effort from the team at the Mallard (Seaham) and everyone involved in the event they held yesterday. It was a fabulously well organised social distanced ‘Rock the Lockdown’ with brilliant live music and such generosity from all raising our charity a whooping £1,363.78!
