Northumbria Blood Bikes, are now undertaking a regular collection run of samples from Hexham General Hospital to the Pathology deprtment at North Tyneside Hospital. This will happen every week Monday to Friday 52 weeks a year.
This Sunday, we will be at Houghhall College, Durham for the Dogwise event, and on 7th June, we will be at the Leas in South Shields for the Great North Dog Walk event, the 25th anniversary one. Please come and see us at either / both, or better still, volunteer to help out at one of both events.
The Great North Air Ambulance Service is starting a car based service on a Friday & Saturday nights to provide emergency cover at busy times when the helicopter doesn’t fly. The Blood on Board service will be extended to include the car allowing trauma specialists working with GNAAS save even more lives, by delivering emergency blood directly to the scene of life-threatening accidents.
To support the extension of the Blood on Board service, Northumbria Blood Bikes will be delivering an extra cool box on Thursday and Friday evenings.
Northumbria Blood Bikes is extremely pleased to announce that Professor Bob Jarman Consultant in Emergency Medicine at The Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has agreed to become our second patron along with the BBC’s Carol Malia.
