We regret to announce the passing of one of our Blood Bike Volunteers, Mr.David Richardson. He had a heart attack on Wednesday and sadly passed away on Thursday morning with his family around him.
His sons, Steven & Phil, have contacted us and said "He got so much enjoyment from his motorbike and was so passionate about bloodbikes and so very proud to contribute to the work you do."
Our heartfelt condolences are extended to Davids' family.
If you do, and you have a little spare time on your hands occasionally at a weekend, read on. We are looking to actively recruit a team of specialst fundraising volunteers. You will attend specific events, where a blood bike / car / exhbition trailer will be present and engage with the public. All of our volunteers are in 'uniform' for these events. If you would like to learn more about this, have a look at the role description.
Just a quick "Thank You" to a Mr. Paul Foster, who took a taxi which just so happened to be driven by a Northumbria Blood Bikes volunteer. After hearing about the work we do, he was kind enough to make an on-the-spot donation to us! Very kind of you..... Your taxi Driver was a certain Mr. Gary Annan, who has volunteered with us since we first started. Hopefully his taxi will be the only service you'll ever need him for, but if you're ever in a hospital and in need of urgent blood, it may just be the same fella who delivers it by blood bike!
We finish this week with excellent news. We are delighted to announc that Dobbies Garden Centre in Ponteland have announced that we are to be their 'Charity of the Year'. We will be developing a close relationship with them over the coming year, visiting the store regularly. Watch this space for more information on this wonderful news.
