Unfortunately our bike is not leading the elite runners to the finish line of the Great North Run nor are our team of runners going to be running from Newcastle to South Shields tomorrow. Like many plans this year things have changed and instead the Great North Run launched their virtual version with an app including the iconic sounds associated with the run.

Rock the Lockdown

Well what can we say apart from absolutely incredible effort from the team at the Mallard (Seaham) and everyone involved in the event they held yesterday. It was a fabulously well organised social distanced ‘Rock the Lockdown’ with brilliant live music and such generosity from all raising our charity a whooping £1,363.78!

Blood Bike Day 2020

Since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic Northumbria Blood Bikes volunteers have stepped up to do whatever they could to support our NHS. From transporting Covid-19 samples, PPE to taking on extra daytime shifts to support transporting patients. Volunteers have also taken part in numerous relays of samples and donated milk outside of usual duty hours. 
Today we are joining our #BloodBike family in celebrating #BloodBikeDay and  #RisingToTheChallege

Milk relay 5th August 2020

Yesterday our volunteer rider, Ken, collected donated milk from Alnwick. He then relayed it with Whiteknights Yorkshire Blood Bikes. They then transferred it to Blood Bikes Manchester who handed it over to Merseyside & Cheshire Blood Bikes. They completed the final leg of the journey to deliver it to the Northwest Human Milk Bank, in Cheshire.

All completely FREE of charge.
